What is a Tarot Card Reading?

I have been asked this question many times through out my Tarot and mystical career.

A Tarot Card Reading is

The simple answer is that a “reading” involves placing cards (tarot or other) in a specific pattern or sequence and then allowing the combination of imagery to activate ones intuition, psyche or inner knowing.

Readings for Spiritual Insight

Most people use the Tarot for spiritual or mystical insights into their lives and circumstances, and these insights enable people to plan a better and more graceful way forward.

Sadly a lot of people presume that a Tarot Reading is a way to predict the future. This is both right and wrong.

The cards generally allow a person to see deeper into their own psyche so that they can understand their behaviours and thought patterns that are creating their future!

Tarot Spreads

There are as many different spreads or ways to lay out the tarot cards as there are people reading them!

The spread is used to package the information  – usually into the Past, Present and Future categories.

The Celtic Cross

A traditional representation of this is the Celtic Cross. Personally I find that this is not really detailed enough.

I like to do this in an inverted triangle with the top line of 3 – 6 cards showing the overall situation, then draw down lines of cards for the questions.

Tarot Connections

It is always interesting to see the placements and how it all interrelates to its self!
